How to Find the Right Material
- Quartz: consistent greys with or without veining; no sealing.
- Granite: natural speckled or veined greys; excellent heat resistance.
- Porcelain: concrete-look and marble-look greys; heat-resistant.
- Marble: soft grey marbles for islands and vanities.
How to Find the Right Tone
Undertone. Greys can be warm (beige undertones), cool (blue undertones) or neutral. Match the undertone to your white — warm whites with warm greys, crisp whites with cool greys.

Contrast. Light grey gives subtle contrast; dark grey gives strong definition.
Lighting. North-facing kitchens make cool greys look colder; warm bulbs can make cool greys look muddy. Test samples at home.
