What Is Cultured Granite?
Cultured granite is made by mixing crushed stone or minerals with polyester resin and pigments, pouring the mix into moulds (often with an integrated basin) and coating it with a protective gel coat. It imitates the speckled appearance of granite.
Advantages of Cultured Granite Vanity Tops
- Lower upfront cost than some natural stone vanities
- Integrated basin with no seams
- Non-porous surface that resists water absorption
- Lightweight compared with stone
- Quick installation in standard sizes
Disadvantages
- Gel coat scratches and dulls over time
- Heat damage from hair straighteners and curling tongs
- Can crack or craze around the drain
- Yellowing with age and harsh cleaners
- Repairs are visible
- Looks artificial up close
How Much Do Cultured Granite Vanity Tops Cost?
Standard-size cultured vanity tops are generally inexpensive. Custom sizes cost more.
Natural Granite Vanity Tops
A natural granite vanity offers far greater durability, heat resistance and natural beauty. With local Pakistani granites starting from about Rs 250 per square foot in FB Marble's list โ and remnants available for small vanities โ the price difference is often smaller than people expect.
