Dragon Black
Description
Dragon Black is an engineered quartz surface with a deep black base with bold white horizontal lightning veins in the style of Nero Marquina.
Lay slabs with the veins running the same direction on walls β they read as one continuous surface.
Dragon Black is stocked as 3200mm x 1600mm slabs, 18mm thick, with a polished finish.
Origin & Technical Profile
Origin: An imported engineered slab stocked by FB Marble in Lahore.
What the slab looks like: A deep black base with bold white horizontal lightning veins in the style of Nero Marquina.
| Material | Engineered stone: crushed quartz bound with polymer resin and pigment |
|---|---|
| Country of origin | Imported |
| Finish | Polished |
| Thickness | 18mm |
| Slab size | 3200mm x 1600mm |
| Composition | Roughly 90β93% quartz aggregate, the rest resin and pigment |
| Density | About 2.3 β 2.4 g/cmΒ³ |
| Water absorption | Near zero (typically β€ 0.05%) β no sealing needed |
| Hardness | About 7 Mohs (quartz aggregate) |
| Heat | Resin can scorch above ~150 Β°C β always use a trivet |
| Outdoor use | Not recommended β strong UV can yellow the resin |
| Fabrication | Cut wet only: dry-cutting quartz releases crystalline silica dust |
Practical note: Daily cleaning with mild soap is enough; avoid oven cleaner, paint stripper and other strong solvents that attack the resin.
Technical figures are typical values for this type of material; colour can shift slightly between production batches, so match slabs from the same batch.
Choosing Dragon Black
The look: Dragon Black has a deep black base with bold white horizontal lightning veins in the style of Nero Marquina. Lay slabs with the veins running the same direction on walls β they read as one continuous surface.
Living with the pattern: Because Dragon Black is veined, ask to see the full slab before cutting: the veins should run the same way across joints and around corners. A bookmatched or vein-matched layout costs a little more slab but looks far better on islands and walls.
Where it works best: Kitchen islands, bar and coffee counters, statement vanities and feature walls.
What goes with Dragon Black:
- White or cream cabinets for strong contrast
- Warm wood cabinets for a richer, darker kitchen
- Gold or brass fittings, which stand out well against black
- Good under-cabinet lighting, since dark tops make a counter feel darker

- Spider Black Quartz: black quartz with white spider-web veins.
- Ethnic Black Quartz: black quartz with gold-orange and white crackle veins.
- Golden Tiger Quartz: black quartz with swirling orange-gold flows.
Compare with black granite: Black granite costs less and takes hot pans better; quartz gives patterns and sparkle that natural black granite does not have. See black granite colours and rates.
