What Is a Polished Granite Counter?
After a granite slab is cut, it is ground with progressively finer abrasives and buffed until it reflects light like a mirror. Polishing closes the surface, which deepens the colour and improves stain resistance.
How Much Does a Polished Granite Counter Cost?
The finish itself is standard, so the price depends mainly on the stone. In FB Marble's current list:
- Pakistani granite: from about Rs 250 per square foot
- Imported granite: from about Rs 700 per square foot
- Exotic granite: up to about Rs 5,000 per square foot
What Else Should You Budget For?
| Item | Notes |
|---|---|
| Stone | Area × rate per sq ft |
| Wastage | Typically 10–15%, more for patterned stones |
| Edges | Standard edges often included; premium edges extra |
| Cut-outs | Sink, hob, taps |
| Backsplash | Strip or full-height |
| Templating | Site measurement |
| Transport | Distance and floor level |
| Installation | Fixing, levelling, seams |
| Sealing | Recommended for lighter stones |
| Removal | Old countertops, if any |

Example Budget Approach
- Measure your counters and calculate the area.
- Choose two or three granites in different price bands.
- Ask FB Marble for a line-item quotation for each.
- Compare total costs, not just the per-square-foot rate.
Why Choose Polished Granite?
- Deepest, richest colour
- Best stain resistance among granite finishes
- Easy to clean
- Timeless look
When to Consider Other Finishes
If you want to hide fingerprints on black granite, consider leathered. For a matte modern look, consider honed. For outdoor steps, choose flamed.
