Why Homeowners Replace Granite
- Cracks across the slab or around the sink
- Large chips along the front edge
- An outdated colour or pattern
- Water damage to cabinets that requires removing the top
- Upgrading to quartz, porcelain or a premium granite
- A new kitchen layout with an island or different appliances

What Replacement Includes
A complete replacement is more than a new slab. It usually involves removing and disposing of the old counter, checking and levelling the cabinets, measuring and templating, cutting and finishing the new stone, installing it, sealing it, and reconnecting the sink and taps. Make sure your quotation lists each item.

Factors That Influence Cost
Size of the countertop. Granite is priced per square foot, so a larger kitchen or an added island increases the total.
Type of granite. In FB Marble's current list, Pakistani granite starts at about Rs 250 per sq ft, imported granite at about Rs 700, and rare exotics reach around Rs 5,000. Your stone choice has the biggest effect on price.
Edge profile. Standard edges such as eased or half bullnose are economical. Ogee, mitered and waterfall edges add labour.
Cut-outs. Each sink, hob and tap hole is cut and polished separately. Undermount sinks need a fully polished cut-out.
Location and access. Upper floors without lifts, narrow staircases and sites outside Lahore add transport and handling costs.
Removal difficulty. Old counters fixed with strong adhesive or set in cement mortar take longer to remove and may damage cabinets that then need repair.
Backsplash. If your old backsplash is fixed to the counter, it may need replacing too.
Can Granite Be Repaired Instead?
Often, yes. Chips can be filled with colour-matched epoxy, dull areas re-polished, stains removed with poultices, and loose sections re-bonded. If the slab is structurally sound and you still like the colour, restoration can cost a fraction of replacement. Ask FB Marble to inspect before you decide.
Tips to Control Cost
- Keep the same layout to avoid cabinet changes
- Choose an in-stock local granite for large areas
- Reuse the existing sink if it is in good condition
- Combine a premium stone on the island with an economical stone on perimeter counters
