Before visiting a showroom, it helps to have a rough idea of what your new countertops will cost. Here is a simple method to estimate the cost of kitchen countertops in Pakistan, with a worked example.

Step 1: Measure Your Area

For each counter section, measure length and depth in inches, multiply them and divide by 144 to get square feet. Add the island, backsplash and any window sills.

Step 2: Add Wastage

Add about 10% for cutting and wastage — more (15–20%) for patterned stones that need vein matching.

Step 3: Choose a Stone Rate

From FB Marble's current list (estimates, confirmed on the day):

  1. Counter area: (120 × 25 + 84 × 25) ÷ 144 = (3,000 + 2,100) ÷ 144 ≈ 35.4 sq ft
  2. Backsplash: (120 + 84) × 4 ÷ 144 ≈ 5.7 sq ft
  3. Total: ≈ 41.1 sq ft
  4. With 10% wastage: ≈ 45 sq ft
  5. Stone cost (example imported granite at Rs 1,600/sq ft): ≈ Rs 72,000
  6. Plus fabrication extras, installation and transport as quoted.
