Finding the Right Countertop for Your Kitchen
Start with how your family cooks. Lahori kitchens see heavy daily cooking — karahi, tadka, parathas and frying — as well as large gatherings during Eid, weddings and family dinners. The countertop must handle heat, oil and spices.
Appearance
Lahore's modern homes favour clean, bright kitchens with white or marble-look quartz, often paired with grey or wooden cabinets. Traditional homes favour warm granites like Tan Brown and Kashmir Gold. Black granite remains a timeless choice in both.
Maintenance
Lahore's dusty summers and hard water mean surfaces must be easy to clean. Quartz needs no sealing; dark granite needs very little. Light granite and marble need regular sealing.
Climate Considerations
- Hot summers: stone stays cool; keep quartz out of strong direct sun.
- Monsoon humidity: seal natural stone well; ensure good ventilation.
- Dust: wipe counters before cleaning to avoid scratches.
Cost
In FB Marble's current list, granite ranges from about Rs 250 per square foot (local) to around Rs 5,000 (exotic), with imported granite from about Rs 700. Quartz is mid-to-premium. Fabrication and installation are additional.
