Why Is Marble So Desirable?
- Beauty: natural veining, colour depth and translucence.
- Polish: marble takes a brilliant shine.
- Coolness: comfortable floors in Pakistan's hot climate.
- Versatility: floors, walls, stairs, vanities and carvings.
- Heritage: marble has been used in Mughal and Islamic architecture for centuries.
What Happens at a Marble Quarry?
1. Exploration

Geologists and quarry operators identify deposits with attractive colour, consistent quality and minimal cracks.
2. Preparing the Face
Soil and weathered rock are removed to expose sound marble.
3. Block Extraction
Modern quarries use diamond wire saws and chain saws to cut clean blocks from the rock face. Older methods relied on blasting, which caused cracks and waste; the industry has been moving towards wire-saw technology for better yields.
4. Lifting and Transport
Cranes and loaders lift blocks onto trucks bound for processing units.
5. Processing
At factories, blocks are cut into slabs or tiles, resin-treated if needed and polished.
6. Grading and Distribution
Slabs and tiles are graded and sent to suppliers like FB Marble, and to export markets.
