Gulf Grey Quartz
Description
Gulf Grey Quartz is an engineered quartz surface with a light grey base with dense blue-grey and dark granules.
One of the most forgiving kitchen counters in the range β the granules hide crumbs and water spots.
Gulf Grey Quartz is stocked as 1800mm x 2700mm slabs, 18mm thick, with a polished finish.
Origin & Technical Profile
Origin: Manufactured in China and imported by FB Marble.
What the slab looks like: A light grey base with dense blue-grey and dark granules.
| Material | Engineered stone: crushed quartz bound with polymer resin and pigment |
|---|---|
| Country of origin | China |
| Finish | Polished / Re-Polishable |
| Thickness | 18mm |
| Slab size | 1800mm x 2700mm |
| Composition | Roughly 90β93% quartz aggregate, the rest resin and pigment |
| Density | About 2.3 β 2.4 g/cmΒ³ |
| Water absorption | Near zero (typically β€ 0.05%) β no sealing needed |
| Hardness | About 7 Mohs (quartz aggregate) |
| Heat | Resin can scorch above ~150 Β°C β always use a trivet |
| Outdoor use | Not recommended β strong UV can yellow the resin |
| Fabrication | Cut wet only: dry-cutting quartz releases crystalline silica dust |
Practical note: Daily cleaning with mild soap is enough; avoid oven cleaner, paint stripper and other strong solvents that attack the resin.
Technical figures are typical values for this type of material; colour can shift slightly between production batches, so match slabs from the same batch.
Choosing Gulf Grey Quartz
The look: Gulf Grey Quartz has a light grey base with dense blue-grey and dark granules. One of the most forgiving kitchen counters in the range β the granules hide crumbs and water spots.
Living with the pattern: The chips in Gulf Grey Quartz make a busy, playful surface that hides spills and crumbs well. Joints are easy to blend, so it suits long counters and shop fronts.
Where it works best: Modern kitchens, bathroom vanities, wall cladding and office reception counters.
What goes with Gulf Grey Quartz:
- White or light-grey cabinets for a soft, modern look
- Charcoal or black cabinets for a darker, contrast kitchen
- Matt black or gunmetal taps and handles
- Concrete-look or plain white floor tiles
Similar quartz colours
- Panda Grey Quartz: grey quartz with large light-grey patch shapes (large patches instead of terrazzo chips).
- Mid Grey Quartz: smooth mid blue-grey quartz with subtle cloud (an almost plain surface instead of terrazzo chips).
- Carlos Grey Quartz: pale aqua-grey quartz with soft mottling (veining instead of terrazzo chips).
- Silver Waves Quartz: sage-grey quartz with swirling silver waves (veining instead of terrazzo chips).
Compare with granite: Grey granites cost less and handle heat better; quartz gives a more even, uniform grey from slab to slab. See granite colours and rates.
