Where Is Buner Located?
Buner is a district in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, in the hills north of the Peshawar valley and close to Swat. Its mountainous terrain contains significant marble deposits.

Why Is the Region Known for Marble?
The geology of northern Pakistan, shaped by the collision of tectonic plates, created conditions in which limestone was transformed into marble across large areas. Quarries in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa marble belt produce a range of white, grey, beige and coloured marbles.
The Marble Industry in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa
Over recent decades, quarrying and processing in the province has grown into a major industry, supplying marble for homes, mosques and commercial buildings across Pakistan, as well as for export. Processing units cut blocks into tiles and slabs, polish them and ship them to cities like Lahore, Karachi, Islamabad and Peshawar.

Modernisation — including diamond wire saws to replace blasting — is helping improve block quality, reduce waste and make Pakistani marble more competitive internationally.
