Why Quartz Is Easy to Clean
Engineered quartz is made of crushed natural quartz bonded with resin under pressure. The result is a dense surface with no open pores. Unlike marble or light granite, it does not need sealing, and stains rarely penetrate. That said, residue left for days — especially haldi, dye and grease — can cling to the surface and needs a little extra care.
Daily Cleaning
Supplies: soft microfibre cloth, warm water, a few drops of mild dish soap, a dry towel.

- Wipe crumbs and loose dirt away.
- Clean with the soapy cloth in circular motions.
- Rinse with a clean damp cloth to remove soap film.
- Dry with a towel to prevent water spots, especially if your area has hard water.
This routine handles everyday oil splashes, flour and tea drips.
Disinfecting Safely
During flu season or after handling raw chicken and meat, you may want to disinfect. Use isopropyl alcohol (70%) on a cloth, or a disinfectant labelled safe for quartz. Spray, leave for a minute, then wipe and rinse. Avoid undiluted bleach — it can discolour the resin over time.

Removing Tough Stains
- Haldi (turmeric): make a paste of baking soda and water, leave it for 10 minutes, then wipe. For stubborn marks, a little isopropyl alcohol on a cloth helps.
- Grease: a degreasing dish soap or a quartz-safe degreaser works well; rinse thoroughly.
- Dried dough, gum or wax: lift with a plastic scraper or old credit card — never a metal blade.
- Permanent marker or ink: dab with isopropyl alcohol, then rinse.
- Hard water marks: a cloth dampened with a diluted vinegar solution can be used briefly on quartz (unlike marble), then rinse immediately with water.
- Tea and coffee rings: soapy water and a non-scratch sponge.

What Not to Use
- Abrasive powders and steel wool
- Oven cleaners, drain openers and strong alkaline cleaners
- Undiluted bleach or paint removers containing methylene chloride
- Acetone left sitting on the surface for long periods
These products can etch the resin, leave dull patches or discolour light designs.
Protect From Heat and Knives
Quartz is strong but not heat-proof. Use trivets for pressure cookers, karahis and tawas straight off the flame. Always cut on a chopping board; quartz will resist the knife but your blade will suffer and fine scratches can appear on dark designs.
Weekly Deep Clean
Once a week, spray a quartz-safe surface cleaner over the whole top, leave for a minute, and wipe with a non-scratch sponge. Pay attention to the area behind the stove and around the sink where grease and water collect.
