What Is Considered High-End Granite?

Not all granite is equal. While every granite is durable, some stones are considered high-end because of their rarity, beauty and quality. These are the slabs chosen for luxury kitchens, statement islands and prestigious commercial projects. Here is what sets them apart.

What Makes Granite High-End?

  • Rare colours: blues, purples, deep greens and unusual multicolours.
  • Dramatic movement: bold waves, veins and swirls.
  • Exceptional quality: few natural flaws, consistent polish and minimal resin filling.
  • Large slab sizes: fewer seams on big projects.
  • Unique optical effects: shimmer, iridescence and crystal sparkle.

How Is Granite Graded?

Granite is often grouped into levels:

  • Commercial/standard grade: common colours, available in volume, economical.
  • Mid-grade: popular colours with good quality.
  • Premium/exotic grade: rare colours, dramatic patterns and top quality.

Grading considers colour, pattern, defects, slab size and origin.

Where Does Granite Come From?

FB Marble stocks 21 Pakistani granites and 25 imported granites from Brazil, Finland, India, Norway and Ukraine. Some of the most prized high-end granites come from Brazil and Norway.

How Much Does Granite Cost?

In FB Marble's current list, granite ranges from about Rs 250 to Rs 5,000 per square foot. High-end stones sit at the top of this range.

How Should High-End Granite Be Installed?

Premium stones deserve premium fabrication: careful slab layout to show the best pattern, vein matching across seams, mitered or waterfall edges, and precise installation. Always approve the actual slabs before cutting.

Factors to Consider When Buying

  • Use: a statement island may justify a premium stone even if perimeter counters use a standard granite.
  • Lighting: shimmering stones come alive under good lighting.
  • Cabinets: keep them simple to let the stone shine.
  • Budget: remember fabrication costs rise with complex edges.
