Imported Marble: What It Is and Why You Might Choose It

Pakistan produces beautiful marble, yet many homeowners also consider imported marble for its distinctive colours and veining. Here is what imported marble offers, how it compares with local marble and when it makes sense.

What Is Marble?

Marble is a metamorphic stone formed from limestone under heat and pressure. Its crystalline structure takes a beautiful polish, and its veining makes every slab unique.

What Is Imported Marble?

Imported marble is quarried abroad and brought into Pakistan. At FB Marble, imported options include Cream Marfil, Grey Emperador, Rosso Verona, China Verona and premium whites, alongside our many Pakistani marbles.

Appearance

Imported marbles offer colours and veining patterns not found in local quarries — for example the warm beige of Cream Marfil, the rich grey of Grey Emperador or the deep red of Rosso Verona. Premium whites have very clean backgrounds with elegant veins.

Cost

Imported marble includes freight, customs duty and handling, so it is significantly more expensive than Pakistani marble. Many homeowners use imported marble for feature areas — a TV wall, a master bathroom, a staircase — and Pakistani marble for large floors.

Durability

Durability depends on the specific stone rather than its origin. All marble is relatively soft (about 3 on the Mohs scale) and reacts with acids.

Maintenance

  • Seal regularly, especially counters and vanities
  • Use pH-neutral cleaners
  • Wipe acidic spills immediately
  • Use mats at entrances for floors

Repair

Marble can be honed and polished to remove scratches and etching, and chips can be filled — whether imported or local.

Resale Value

High-quality marble, especially in feature areas, adds luxury appeal and resale value.
