Cost of Marble per Square Foot
Marble is priced per square foot, and rates vary widely by stone. Local Pakistani marbles are among the most economical natural stones anywhere, while imported marbles cost considerably more. FB Marble confirms current rates for each stone and batch.
What Changes the Price of Marble Countertops?
Type and origin. Local stones avoid duty and freight; imported stones carry both.
Grade. First-grade slabs with clean colour and few fissures cost more than commercial grades.
Thickness. 18–20 mm is standard; 30 mm costs more.
Finish. Polished is standard; honed, brushed or antique finishes may cost extra.
Edges and cut-outs. Premium edges and polished undermount sink cut-outs add labour.
Vein matching. Bookmatched vanities and islands require careful slab selection and more wastage.
Common Marbles
These are widely available, attractive and economical: Ziarat White, Sunny White, Sunny Grey, Botticino, Tavera, Badal, Chocolate Brown and Coffee Brown. They are ideal for floors, walls, stairs and vanities.
Premium Marbles
Higher-priced options include imported Cream Marfil, Grey Emperador, Rosso Verona and Italian whites, as well as top-grade Ziarat White with very clean backgrounds. Silky Black and Black and Gold marble are also popular for statement pieces.
Labour and Fabrication
Fabrication includes cutting the slab to size, shaping and polishing edges, cutting holes for basins and taps, and dry-fitting. Installation includes levelling, fixing with adhesive, sealing joints and cleaning.
Extra Charges to Plan For
- Travel and transport: delivery outside Lahore or to upper floors without lifts.
- Backsplash installation: a 4-inch strip or a full-height panel behind the vanity.
- Polishing after installation: essential for marble floors.
- Sealing: recommended for every marble counter and vanity.
- Removal of old tops.
How to Keep Costs Under Control
- Use local marble for large areas
- Choose standard edges
- Buy from a single batch
- Combine several small items (vanity, sills, shelves) in one order to reduce wastage
