Stone Countertop Installation and Labour Charges in Pakistan

The stone itself is only one part of your countertop investment. Fabrication turns a raw slab into a fitted surface, and installation fixes it safely in your home. These steps involve skilled labour, specialised machines and transport — and they can make up a significant share of the total. Here is how to estimate them.

How to Estimate Your Total Countertop Cost

  1. Calculate the area in square feet (length × depth for each section).
  2. Multiply by the stone rate per square foot.
  3. Add fabrication extras: edge profiles, cut-outs and backsplash.
  4. Add installation, transport and any removal of old counters.

Typical Stone Rates

In FB Marble's current list, Pakistani granite starts at about Rs 250 per square foot and imported granite at about Rs 700. Local marble is economical, and quartz falls in a mid-to-premium range depending on design. Exact rates are confirmed per order.

What Affects Labour Cost?

Layout complexity. Straight runs are quickest. L-shapes, U-shapes, islands and waterfall ends need more cutting, joining and polishing.

Edge profiles. Eased and half-bullnose edges are fast; ogee, mitered and laminated edges take much longer.

Cut-outs. Undermount sinks need polished cut-outs; hobs, taps and soap dispensers each add work.

Site access. Narrow staircases, upper floors without lifts and tight doorways require more installers and more time.

Distance. Projects outside Lahore add transport and travel time.

Cabinet condition. If cabinets need levelling or extra support, that adds labour.

Common Add-On Charges

  • Removal and disposal of old tops
  • Backsplash fitting
  • Sink fixing and silicone sealing
  • Stone sealing after installation
  • Extra site visits for templating changes

Why Professional Installation Matters

A granite or quartz slab is heavy and rigid. If it sits on uneven cabinets, lacks support over gaps, or is fixed with the wrong adhesive, it can crack — sometimes weeks after installation. Professional installers level cabinets, add supports, bond seams with colour-matched epoxy, and fit sinks securely. Accurate templating also prevents gaps against walls and reduces wastage.

Saving on Labour

  • Keep the layout simple
  • Choose standard edges for perimeter counters
  • Prepare cabinets in advance
  • Clear the access route on installation day
  • Bundle the backsplash and window sills into the same order
