The Most Popular Edge Profiles for Quartz Countertops

Your quartz may be the star of the kitchen, but the edge profile decides how it feels in daily use and how refined it looks. At FB Marble we fabricate every popular edge in our Lahore workshop. Here is a guide to choosing the right one.

What Is a Countertop Edge?

The edge is the exposed front and side of the slab. Raw cut stone has sharp, rough corners, so fabricators shape and polish them into a profile.

Why Edges Matter

Safety. Rounded profiles prevent bumps and bruises, especially for children.

Protection. A softened edge is less likely to chip when hit by heavy pots.

Depth. Some profiles make the slab appear thicker.

Style. Edges set the tone — modern, classic or traditional.

Standard Edges

  1. Eased (straight) edge. A square edge with slightly softened corners. Clean, modern and the most popular choice for quartz.
  2. Half bevel. The top corner is cut at an angle. Sharp, contemporary look.
  3. Full bevel. Angles on top and bottom for a crisp, tailored profile.
  4. Quarter round / double radius. Lightly rounded corners for comfort and safety.
  5. Half bullnose. A rounded top with flat bottom; family-friendly and spill-catching.
  6. Full bullnose. Fully rounded front; soft and traditional.

Premium Edges

  1. Ogee. An elegant S-shaped curve suited to classic kitchens and formal vanities.
  2. Dupont. A step down followed by a curve; decorative and distinctive.
  3. Mitered. Creates a thick slab look by joining a strip at 45 degrees — ideal for islands.
  4. Waterfall. The stone continues down the side of the cabinet to the floor.

How to Choose

  • Modern kitchens: eased or mitered.
  • Classic or traditional homes: ogee or full bullnose.
  • Homes with children: half bullnose or double radius.
  • Budget-conscious projects: any standard edge.
  • Statement island: mitered or waterfall.

Quartz-Specific Considerations

Quartz is hard and slightly brittle at very thin points, so extremely sharp profiles can chip. That is why our team slightly softens even straight edges. Marble-look quartz with veins looks best with simple edges that let the pattern take centre stage.
