Quartz Slab Sizes: What Are the Standard Dimensions?

Quartz slab size affects how many seams your countertop will have, how much wastage there is and ultimately the cost. Understanding standard dimensions helps you plan your kitchen layout. Here is a guide.

Standard Quartz Slab Sizes

Quartz is manufactured in fixed slab sizes that vary by manufacturer and collection. Common sizes include:

  • Standard slabs: around 3000 × 1400 mm (about 118 × 55 inches)
  • Jumbo slabs: around 3200 × 1600 mm (about 126 × 63 inches) or larger

Exact sizes vary, so always confirm the dimensions of the specific design you choose with FB Marble.

Quartz Thickness

  • 18 mm: FB Marble's standard thickness for quartz — strong enough for kitchens and vanities on proper cabinets.
  • 20 mm: used for some collections and heavier-use areas.
  • 30 mm: thicker slabs for a substantial look (less common).

Built-up or mitered edges can make an 18 mm slab look much thicker.

Why Slab Size Matters

Seams. Longer counters may need a seam if they exceed slab length. Jumbo slabs can reduce seams.

Islands. A large island that fits within one slab avoids a seam in the middle — especially important with veined designs.

Waterfall edges. You need enough slab to cut both the top and the vertical panels, ideally from one slab for vein matching.

Wastage. Awkward layouts that use only part of a slab increase cost per usable square foot.

Planning Tips

  • Measure your longest counter run and island size before choosing a design.
  • Ask FB Marble to show a slab layout before cutting.
  • Plan seams in less visible areas — corners and away from sinks.
  • For bookmatched designs, plan two consecutive slabs.

Why Choose Quartz?

  • Non-porous and stain-resistant
  • No sealing
  • Consistent colour across slabs
  • Wide design choice
