What Is Solid Surface?
Solid surface is made from acrylic or polyester resin mixed with mineral fillers. It is cast into sheets and can be shaped, joined seamlessly and moulded into integrated sinks.

What Is Granite?
Granite is a natural igneous stone formed deep underground and quarried in blocks, then cut into slabs and polished.
From Creation to Countertop
Solid surface: manufactured in factories in sheets, then cut, joined with matching adhesive and sanded to make seams virtually invisible.
Granite: quarried, cut into slabs, polished, then fabricated to fit each kitchen with edges and cut-outs.
Cost
Solid surface is typically mid-range. Granite ranges from very economical local stones (from about Rs 250 per square foot in FB Marble's list) to premium imports.
Durability
Solid surface: scratches easily from knives and utensils; heat can scorch or crack it.
Granite: very hard and heat-resistant; resists scratches.
Maintenance
Solid surface: non-porous, no sealing; scratches can be sanded out.
Granite: light colours need sealing about once a year; dark granites need little care.
Seams
Solid surface: nearly invisible seams and integrated sinks.
Granite: visible but neat seams, filled with colour-matched epoxy.
Appearance
Solid surface looks uniform and smooth; granite has natural depth and unique patterns.
Which Is Better?
For a busy Pakistani home kitchen with high-heat cooking, granite is more practical and longer-lasting. Solid surface suits hospitals, labs and designs requiring seamless curves.
