What Is Solid Surface?
Solid surface is made from acrylic or polyester resin mixed with mineral fillers. It is cast into sheets that can be joined almost invisibly and shaped into curves and integrated sinks.
What Is Quartz?
Quartz is engineered from around 93% crushed natural quartz bonded with resin. It is pressed into dense slabs.
Factors to Help You Decide
Appearance

Solid surface: uniform, matte or satin, slightly plastic look; seamless joints. Quartz: stone-like depth, polished or matte finishes, convincing marble-looks.
Durability
Solid surface: scratches easily, but scratches can be sanded out. Quartz: much harder and more scratch-resistant.
Heat Resistance
Solid surface: poor โ hot pots can scorch, discolour or crack it. Quartz: moderate โ use trivets, but better than solid surface.
Stain Resistance
Both are non-porous; quartz generally resists strong dyes better.
Seams and Shapes
Solid surface: nearly invisible seams, integrated sinks, curved shapes. Quartz: visible but neat seams; limited curves.
Repairs
Solid surface: easy to repair and refinish. Quartz: repairs possible but harder to hide.
Cost
Often similar, depending on brand and design.
Which Should You Choose?
Choose quartz for Pakistani home kitchens โ it is harder, more heat-resistant and looks more like natural stone.
Choose solid surface for hospitals, labs, washrooms or designs needing seamless curves and integrated basins.
