Origin: An imported engineered slab stocked by FB Marble in Lahore.

What the slab looks like: A white base with bold gold and grey veining in the style of Calacatta marble.

Practical note: Daily cleaning with mild soap is enough; avoid oven cleaner, paint stripper and other strong solvents that attack the resin.

Technical figures are typical values for this type of material; colour can shift slightly between production batches, so match slabs from the same batch.

Choosing Calacatta Gold

The look: Calacatta Gold has a white base with bold gold and grey veining in the style of Calacatta marble. Supplied in 3200 × 1600 mm jumbo slabs, long enough for most islands without a joint.

Living with the pattern: Because Calacatta Gold is veined, ask to see the full slab before cutting: the veins should run the same way across joints and around corners. A bookmatched or vein-matched layout costs a little more slab but looks far better on islands and walls.

Where it works best: Kitchen islands and counters, waterfall edges, vanities and wall panels behind a bed or TV.

What goes with Calacatta Gold:

• White, light grey or sage-green cabinets for a soft marble look
• Dark walnut or matt black cabinets when you want the veins to stand out
• Brushed gold or matt black taps and handles, picked to match the vein colour
