Marble Today
Marble remains one of the most loved stones for floors, walls, vanities and feature areas. It forms when limestone is transformed by heat and pressure, creating calcite crystals and elegant veining. Pakistan produces many beautiful marbles, including Ziarat White, Sunny White, Sunny Grey and Botticino.

Key traits:
- Soft (about 3 on the Mohs scale)
- Etches with acids
- Moderately porous; needs regular sealing
- Takes a beautiful polish
- Can be honed and polished to remove wear
Quartzite Today
Quartzite is increasingly popular for kitchens because it looks like marble but is far tougher. It forms when sandstone is transformed by heat and pressure, fusing quartz grains together.
Key traits:
- Very hard (about 7 on the Mohs scale)
- Does not etch from kitchen acids
- Low porosity; still needs sealing
- Excellent heat and UV resistance
- Premium price
