What Do Quartz Countertops Look Like? Veins, Speckles and Colours

Many people picture quartz as a plain white surface, but modern quartz is incredibly versatile. Because it is engineered, manufacturers can create almost any look — from crisp solid colours to convincing imitations of rare marble. Here is a visual guide to what quartz can look like.

Why Quartz Is So Versatile

Quartz is made by mixing crushed natural quartz with resin and pigments, then pressing it into slabs. Designers can control the colour of the base, add veins by layering pigments, or scatter flecks and mirror chips through the mix. The result is a surface that can suit minimalist apartments, classic villas and commercial spaces alike.

Veined Quartz

Marble-look quartz is the most popular style today. FB Marble's Calacatta Gold, Calacatta Wave and Calacatta Nova feature bold veins on a bright white base, while Carrara White and Carrara Grey have softer, feathery veins. Panda White Bookmatch is designed so that two slabs mirror each other for dramatic islands and feature walls.

Speckled Quartz

Speckled designs have small flecks of colour scattered across the surface, giving a granite-like or terrazzo-like look. They are excellent at hiding crumbs, dust and minor marks between cleans — a practical choice for busy family kitchens.

Solid Colours

Plain designs such as Ice White, Snow White and Charcoal Grey give a clean, modern look. They suit handle-less cabinets and minimalist interiors where the counter should feel calm.

Concrete and Industrial Looks

Matte grey designs mimic polished concrete, creating an industrial style without concrete's tendency to crack and stain.

Colour Families

  • White: the most popular, brightening kitchens and bathrooms
  • Black: dramatic, often with white or gold veins (Dragon Black, Ethnic Black)
  • Grey: modern, practical and forgiving
  • Beige and cream: warm and traditional (Antique Cream)
  • Brown: pairs with wooden cabinets (Caramel Brown)
  • Colour accents: greens and pinks for statement bathrooms (Celadon Green, Dream Pink)

Finishes

Polished quartz is glossy and reflective. Matte or honed quartz has a soft, natural look that hides fingerprints. Textured finishes add subtle tactile interest.
