What Is a Waterfall Edge?
Instead of ending at the side of the counter, the stone turns 90 degrees and continues vertically down one or both sides of the cabinet. The corner is joined with a precise 45-degree mitre so that the pattern appears to flow continuously from the top surface down the side.

What Does It Look Like?
With veined stone such as FB Marble's Calacatta Gold quartz or Panda White Bookmatch, the veins seem to pour over the edge like water — which is where the name comes from. With solid colours such as Ice White or Charcoal Grey, the effect is a clean, monolithic block that suits minimalist interiors.
Waterfall Styles
- Single waterfall: one end drops to the floor while the other meets the wall or a run of cabinets.
- Double waterfall: both ends drop to the floor, framing the island like a solid sculpture.
- Partial waterfall: the side panel stops just above the floor, sometimes with a recessed plinth for a floating effect.
- Waterfall with seating: a breakfast-bar overhang supported by a vertical stone leg instead of brackets.

Is It a Standard or Premium Edge?
It is a premium fabrication. It needs extra slab area for the vertical panels, careful vein matching and skilled mitre joints, so it costs more than standard edges and is usually priced per panel or per running foot.
Where to Install It
Kitchens. Islands, peninsulas and breakfast bars are the classic locations.

Bathrooms. Floating vanities that wrap down one side look elegant and are easy to clean.
Living and commercial spaces. Reception desks, bar counters, TV consoles and boardroom tables.
Pros
- A dramatic, high-end look that becomes the focal point of the room
- Protects cabinet sides from kicks, mops and chair knocks
- Continuous vein flow when slabs are matched
- Adds perceived value to the home
Cons
- Higher cost because of extra stone and labour
- Requires precise templating and level floors
- Vertical panels can chip at the bottom corner if heavy furniture hits them
FB Marble Tips
Choose a slab large enough to cut both the top and the drop from the same piece, so the veins match perfectly. Finish floor tiling before templating — uneven floors make the vertical panel look crooked. Finally, ask us to show you a layout of how the veins will run before we cut.
